I grew up in Chapel Hill, NC, surrounded by the beauty of classic southern architecture in a quaint college town.   My maternal grandfather, both of my parents, and my brothers are and were business owners, so the entrepreneurial spirit runs deep!   My love of sewing started at an early age in 4-H and Girl Scouts, but in those days, it was apparel, not home furnishings, that I was constructing. I even made my Senior Prom dress.

I graduated from Appalachian State University with a BS in Art Marketing and a minor in Business Marketing. Even though I did not follow that career path, I love that I am still in a creative field.  I married my college sweetheart, and we have two children, Patricia, 25, and Matthew, 23.  

Shortly after moving into our first house, I started creating window treatments and bedding for our new home.  I had several friends ask me to help them with their homes, and that is where it all started. JSH Designs was born!  I continued to fill this creative outlet for several years as a part-time business when I was working full-time as an Office Manager for an insurance company, but after a few years decided to try it full-time.  There have been obstacles to overcome and will continue to be, but I love what I do.

JSH Designs, LLC has been assisting interior designers to turn their creative vision into reality since 2001. We have collaborated with regional, national, and international designers, and our work has been published in multiple shelter magazines. I attend industry conferences and trade shows on a regular basis to keep abreast of new techniques, products, and safety standards.  I am an active member and past President of the Triangle Chapter of the Window Coverings Association of America. We are exclusively a-to-the-trade soft furnishings studio, and love being part of the support team for our designers.
